For Divyang craftsmen to display and market their handcrafted goods, Divya Kala Mela serves as both an exhibition space and a marketplace. The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), a division of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities within the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment of the Government of India, is in charge of organizing it.
This one-of-a-kind festival called the “Divya Kala Mela” will be held from December 2 to December 7, 2022, at Swami Vivekananda Road, close to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue (Kartavya Path), India Gate, New Delhi. Visitors to the event will have an engaging experience as they view colorful products from different regions of the nation, such as Jammu and Kashmir, the North Eastern states, handicrafts, embroidery works, handlooms, packaged cuisine, etc.
200 Divyang artisans, artists, and business owners representing 22 states and UTs will exhibit their wares. Products would fall under the following broad category: Home furnishings and fashion, packaged foods and organic goods, clothing, stationery, toys and gifts, jewelry, and clutch bags are some of the categories you can shop in. It will be a chance for everyone to go “vocal for local,” and goods manufactured by Divyang craftsmen with their added grit can be seen or bought.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, the six-day “Divya Kala Mela” will be open and feature a variety of cultural performances by both Divyang artists and well-known professionals. At the event, visitors can also indulge in their favorite foods from different parts of the nation.
On December 2, 2022, at 4 p.m., Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, officially opened the event. The event was graced by Ministers of State for Social Justice & Empowerment for the Indian government, Shri Ramdas Athawale, and Ms. Pratima Bhoumik. The department has great ambitions to advance the idea, as part of which a national “Divya Kala Mela” will be held annually across the nation, not just in Delhi.
