Heart shaped island, Netrani Island
Gaining popularity from recent years, not everybody knows about this perfectly heart shaped island. It is a coral island in the Arabian Sea. The island is also called as the ‘Bajarangi island’ or ‘pigeon Island’ for its extensive population of pigeons. The famous ‘Jai Bhajarangbali’ temple can be found here. Formerly known as ‘Nitra Gudo’ the island is famous for its scuba diving activities among other water sports. Rich in aquatic diversity, Netrani island can only be reached by the boat from Bhatkal.

Apsarakonda
Translated from kannada as ‘pond of the celestial nymphs’, Apsarakonda is a natural pond with a waterfall of apx 50 meter high. A common belief is that, the water flows from the roots of the fig tree (sacred peepul) and believed to be an ancient waterfall. There are caves surrounding the place called Pandava caves. According to the legends, Pandavas rested in these caves while serving their exile. Apsarakonda offers a hiking too. Hiking trails have been made by the tourism department and is very convenient. There are many other places to explore Apsarakonda like, Ramachandra mutt, colonel hill, Higund, Rama theerta, Kasaragood Beach, Basavaraja Durga etc.

Chorla Ghat
The most beautiful scenic sites and waterfalls can be found at the Chorla Ghat. Located in the borders of Karnataka , Goa and Maharashtra, this place is perfect for drives and to stay close to the nature. Just one of the other spectacular piece of the Sahyadri mountain range. Look for the many nature reserves and resorts near Chorla ghat.

Unchalli Falls
A huge waterfall also known as ‘Lushington falls’ gushing its way through 116 meter is an underrated waterfalls in Karnataka. A part of Aghanashini river, Unchalli falls is a delight to the eyes.

Bhootanatha Temple
The bhootanatha group of temples are a pride of Karnataka. This includes two important temples, one on the East and the other on the north east side of the Agastya lake. Build by the Chalukyas of Badami in 7th century, these temples display a typical gorgeous Dravidian architecture. Gracefully situated on water in the banks of Agstya Theerta, the carvings and the Kalyani chalukya architecture will take you back in history.

Kunchikal falls
Often we forget that the highest waterfalls in India is Kunchikal falls also known as, Kunchikal Abbe in Shivamogga District. Falling down at the height of an impressive 1493 feet, Kunchikal is a must see tourist destination in Karnataka. Originated by the Varaha river, Kunchikal is the 116th highest waterfall in the world. Her roaring beauty is worth living a life. I recommend visiting during the monsoon.

Shettihalli Rosary Church
Build by the French missionaries in the 1900s, Shettihalli church is amazing in many different forms. The architecture is typical French and what we see is just the ruins. Now, calculate…it’s the Gothic display of the church! The old church is also slowly gaining popularity because, it is half submerged in the water during monsoon season. People travel from faraway places to take a look. A must see site in Karnataka.

Honnemaradu
A place solely known for its legendary sunrise and sunsets. Honnemaradu is a lake area in the backwaters of the Sharavathi river. Honnemaradu hosts destinations for camps (designated areas) and carries many hiking trails. A beautiful scenic spot for a getaway. The place is also known as the ‘Golden Lake’ and rewards immensely if you run your eyes.

Ottinene secret Beach
River Sumana(Byndoor river) makes a U- turn and joins the Arabian sea. Thus, we have a beautiful beach location. The Ottinene beach is a compact of mountains, forests and beach. The place is revered due its picturesque scenery and a perfect hideaway to relax.
